Bring a shovel to dig out sod, and any 1-2 liter juice bottles (clear plastic) you have to protect the trees from squirrels.

Saturday 8 May

The Hardy Heartnut Project

Gordon Wilkinson, greenthumbgord(-at-)shaw.ca
http://web.ncf.ca/bf250/crf/heartnut.html
Starting at 10 am, we will be breaking ground for a major ECSONG project, the selection of heartnuts hardy in Eastern Ontario. Tasks this spring include the moving of existing trees, tilling, then planting buckwheat to prepare an acre for fall seed planting. Shovels are useful.

Saturday 15 May

Oak Valley

Murray Inch, minch(-at-)storm.ca
http://www.songonline.ca/ecsong/oakvalleymap.gif
Oak Valley is now run by a sister group, the Oak Valley Pioneer Park Volunteers, but SONG members
are welcome to join in a general spring cleanup and maintenance day at this park-like site from 10 am on. Bring loppers and pruning saws if you have them.

Saturday 29 May

Central Research Forest Plantations

John Sankey, johnsankey(-at-)ncf.ca with ECSONG in the subject line
http://www.songonline.ca/ecsong/dolman.html
We meet on the Dolman Ridge Road at its intersection with Anderson Road at 10 am. Enjoy a day surrounded by warblers, ferns, and oak trees. Clippers and loppers will be useful to clear the ECSONG trail. Wear shoes that don't mind getting wet, or boots - there will be some wet patches.
