Nut growing offers farmers and small growers alike, an opportunity to develop and grow with a new industry in Ontario. New selections and cultivars of heartnuts, hazelnuts, and sweet chestnuts offer growers a chance to develop new nut industries in the appropriate climatic regions of Ontario. Cultivars of hickory, Persian walnut, black walnut, butternut and others offer additional, but more minor cropping possibilities. in developing an orchard of nut crops, it requires careful planning, preparation and knowledge for success.
